The journey through the rich tapestry of India’s history, from the Golden Era of ancient dynasties to the contemporary role of royal families, unveils a saga of grandeur, conquests, cultural heritage, and resilience. Throughout the millennia, India witnessed the rise and fall of numerous dynasties, each leaving an indelible mark on its landscape. The Mauryan and Gupta Empires, the Chola Dynasty, the Rajput Dynasties, the Mughal Era, and the Marathas Rule are just a few chapters in this book. These periods were characterized by remarkable achievements in governance, art, architecture, and cultural patronage, shaping the identity of the Indian subcontinent.
The Mughal Empire, under the reign of Akbar, Shahjahan, and Aurangzeb, epitomized grandeur and opulence. The legacy of their extravagant lifestyles and cultural patronage endures through the ages. The Marathas and Rajput, led by warrior kings like Shivaji, Maharana Pratap, Prithvi Raj Chauhan etc contributed significantly to India’s cultural landscape, military history and their bravery fight against the atrocities of Mughal empire. The book also deals with brave history of ancient Hindu queens and their fight to save their freedom and their asmita (Pride).
The advent of British rule ushered in a new era marked by industrialization, modernization, and socio-economic transformations. While the British legacy brought about advancements in infrastructure, such as the development of the railway network, tourism, the textile industry, the mining, shipping and allied industries along with in the field of education and also left a complex legacy of exploitation and cultural disruption.
The princely states, once bastions of opulence and autonomy, faced integration challenges after independence. The richness and wealth of these states, once symbols of power and prestige, became part of India’s collective heritage. Behind the grandeur of thrones and palaces, the stories of queens and empresses emerge, highlighting their often overlooked but significant roles in shaping history and society. The book also deals with the lavish lifestyle of Indian kings, queens, Maharajas, princesses and their love for collecting gems, jewellery etc. Today, the royal families of India continue to play a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage. Their contributions extend beyond mere symbolism, encompassing efforts in cultural preservation, heritage conservation, and philanthropy.
About the Author
The author is a retired Groundwater Scientist with Postgraduate in Geology from Vikram University, Ujjain and Postgraduate in Advanced Survey and Photogrammetry from University of Roorkee, with an experience of more than 40 years. He widely travelled in different parts of the country, along with international travelling to United States, Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Vatican City and other European countries along with some countries of South Asia. While travelling in different parts of the country closely observed the threads of ancient dynasties, imperial conquests, princely states, and the enduring legacies of its royal families, their lavish style of life, love for country, architecture, grand palaces, jewels and gems. This gave an idea to compile the lifestyle of ancient Indian Monarchs and queens.
This is not the first fiction book of the author, but earlier he wrote one book on Remote Sensing and one on Water-an eternal source of life along with number of other fiction books, which are available on various E-Platform.
