Description
About the Book
Spilled Coffee and Some Laughs is a sharp, warm, and irreverently funny collection of essays that finds meaning in everyday chaos—the kind that happens between reheated coffee, misplaced keys, unsolicited advice, and the relentless expectations of modern life. With humour as both shield and truth-teller, Bindu Unnikrishnan writes about love, marriage, motherhood, work, womanhood, relationships, and the quiet absurdities we rarely post online but live every day.
Each piece captures moments when life interrupts plans: a teacher wrestling six yards of a saree, a perfectly “organised” home where nothing can be found, men discovering their inner MasterChef on Sundays, friendships strained by detox culture, mismatched relationships tuned to different emotional frequencies, and women navigating bodies, ambition, and identity with resilience and wit. The laughter here is not staged or performative—it is the kind that slips out in exhaustion, recognition, and relief.
Rooted in contemporary Indian life yet universally relatable, this book does not offer life hacks or self-help formulas. Instead, it celebrates imperfection, emotional honesty, and survival through humour. Spilled Coffee and Some Laughs is for readers who know that joy often hides in inconvenience—and that sometimes, the most meaningful moments happen when the coffee spills and life takes over.
