Description
About The Book
The enactment of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 marks a historic transformation in India’s criminal justice system. Replacing the century-old Indian Penal Code, 1860, the BNS represents a significant step towards modernizing criminal law and aligning it with contemporary societal, technological, and constitutional realities. As one of the three new criminal laws introduced by the Government of India, the BNS seeks to establish a more efficient, victim-centric, and technology-driven legal framework capable of addressing emerging forms of crime and evolving challenges of justice administration.
This book, Decoding Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023: Key Challenges and Legal Implications, has been written with the objective of providing a comprehensive yet accessible understanding of the new criminal law regime. It examines the fundamental principles, substantive provisions, and transformative reforms introduced under the BNS while critically analyzing their legal, social, and practical implications. Special emphasis has been placed on contemporary issues such as organized crime, terrorism, cybercrime, offences against women and children, victim rights, and the integration of digital evidence within the criminal justice process.
