About the Book

Manparivartan Sohala (The Celebration of Mental Transformation) is a thought-provoking Marathi book that explores the evolution, structure, and transformation of the human mind through the integration of modern psychology, neuroscience, evolutionary science, and Indian contemplative traditions. Rather than presenting mental health as merely the absence of psychological disorders, the book emphasizes the development of a scientifically informed, resilient, and self-aware mind.
The central theme of the book is that the human mind evolved primarily for survival rather than happiness. Consequently, emotions such as fear, anxiety, anger, and negative thinking are explained as adaptive evolutionary mechanisms that, although once essential for survival, often contribute to psychological distress in modern society. The book helps readers understand why the mind functions in this way and how greater psychological insight can reduce unnecessary suffering.
Drawing upon evidence-based psychological approaches, particularly Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), the author explains the relationships among thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. These concepts are further enriched by incorporating mindfulness, yoga, meditation, pranayama, and Buddhist principles, offering a holistic framework for personal growth and mental well-being.
Organized into seven comprehensive sections, the book covers the evolutionary origins of the mind, the development of consciousness, cognitive biases, irrational thinking, psychological restructuring, practical methods for mental transformation, and the characteristics of a psychologically healthy life. Practical worksheets and guided exercises encourage readers to apply these concepts in everyday life.
