About the Book
In this poetry collection, each poem is accompanied by its writing date to help readers grasp the social and political context. These poems arose not merely to soothe but from a sense of suffocation when words became essential, reflecting a commitment to democratic and humanitarian values.
Most poems are structured, maintaining rhythm even in prose. This collection follows my first, “”Kavya Arunoday,”” published nine years ago, during which I focused on “”Amritatva (The Poetic Form of the Gita),”” released in 2017. The intervening years were tumultuous, with life circumstances prompting a retreat from public engagement, allowing for personal fulfillment and creativity. Solitude provided spiritual benefits, deepening my understanding through yoga, meditation, and study.
Though I hadn’t initially planned to publish this collection, a friend’s suggestion prompted reflection. Some poems address the pandemic’s harsh realities—the long lines of laborers, haunting ambulance sirens, and grim scenes of cremation. The years of writing coincided with a time of strict surveillance over freedom of expression, where dissent often led to insults and threats, complicating the act of writing openly. Despite challenges, values like freedom, equality, and fraternity guided me through this ideological landscape. Like a bird gathering twigs to build its nest, this collection emerges from that experience. I hope the Hindi literary community embraces it with open hearts.
