Silence is profound.
It is often so deeply entangled within itself that, at times, even the one who has nurtured it for years finds it difficult to understand.
There are many kinds of silences—
some meant to hide joy,
some to endure sorrow,
some born of waiting, others of hope,
some resting in peace,
and some quietly growing within loneliness, heartbreak, love, or the delicate spaces of a relationship.
This book speaks of all these silences—
but through the perspective of a woman.
A woman who conceals the questions rising within her,

her restlessness, her happiness,
and even her grief.
Silent while waiting for someone,
silent after finding someone,
and sometimes silent after losing someone.
Each day, thousands of questions, hopes, longings, expectations, pain, joy, ache, and love
are born within her heart.
They gather and fold themselves into silence—
yet they are never truly silent.
At times, that very silence shakes her from within, urging her to speak everything aloud.
At times, it pushes her feet to move forward.
And at times, it whispers to her fingers to write it all down.
“”Maun Stree Mann”” is, in many ways, a collection of those silences—
written over the past five years
and shaped into poetry.
It is the story of a woman
who dreams,
who waits,
who falls in love,
who builds hopes,

and who, even after breaking,
learns to gather herself again.
I hope these poems touch your silences too—
and that somewhere between these lines,
you may find your own.

About The Author

I have not yet achieved anything extraordinary in life worthy of a grand introduction. I have simply lived through many roles — and those roles themselves are my identity.
I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a daughter-in-law. I am an employee, a homemaker, a friend, and a lover. But beyond all these roles, I am a woman.
Though I currently reside in Kolkata, I was born in a small village in the Darbhanga district of Bihar. I completed my education in the Commerce stream from University of Calcutta. However, while learning to balance the accounts of life, I slowly and unknowingly developed a deep passion for writing.
“”Maun Stree Mann”” is my first published book. I sincerely hope it resonates with you.
