Business ethics is a specialized branch of applied ethics and it deals with the application of moral principles and values to the policies, decisions and practices of business persons and business organizations to ascertain whether those policies, decisions, and actions are ethical or unethical. Business ethics is a code of conduct or a system of moral principles and values required for business persons and organizations and it informs them what to do and what not to do in their daily business dealings. Unethical trade practices of a company not only run the risk of losing valuable customers and talented employees, but also lead to disintegration of the company. Therefore, every business firm must denounce actions that are considered to be immoral, irresponsible, unlawful, unfair, harmful and dangerous.
Business ethics is not against earning profits in business, but it insists that the ways and means chosen to earn profits must be righteous and justifiable. The business organization that sticks to righteous practices survives difficult times and is likely to be victorious each time that it faces some crisis. Business ethics creates moral awareness among business persons and to decide whether their business practices are moral or immoral. People always support those business organizations that follow the moral code of conduct and avoid corrupt and immoral activities. A good business always leads to successful business.
This book analyzes everyday ethical problems, dilemmas, and issues that successful business executives and managers must resolve in business by taking necessary steps in reducing the possibility of wrong-doings and morally objectionable practices.

About The Author

Y. V. Satyanarayana was a former professor of philosophy, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. His field of specialization is Ethics and Applied Ethics. His notable works include – “Marx and Gandhi: A Comparative Study of Social Philosophies”, “Ethics: Theory and Practice”, “Medical Ethics; Principles and Problems”. He was a Governing Body Member of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi, from 2006 to 2012 (affiliated to HRD ministry, New Delhi), and UGC Emeritus Professor in Philosophy for two terms -2011- 2016. He published more than 40 articles in reputed journals and anthologies in India and abroad.
