Description
About The Book
Elements of the Differential Calculus by Sachin P. Hatkar is a lucid and concise introduction to fundamental topics in calculus, crafted specifically for undergraduate students. This book stands out for its clarity of language, minimalistic size, and focused content, offering a learner-friendly alternative to bulky traditional textbooks.
The author delves into essential concepts such as limits, continuity, derivatives, and mean value theorems, extending into topics like Taylor’s theorem, maxima and minima, tangents and normals, partial derivatives, and indeterminate forms. Each topic is presented with a solid theoretical foundation, accompanied by a wealth of solved examples that bridge theory with practical understanding.
Particularly valuable is the attention to frequently misunderstood concepts, such as the precise definition of a limit or the distinction between left-hand and right-hand derivatives. The book also includes discussions on hyperbolic functions, transformations, and derivative rules involving determinants and parametric equations, providing a comprehensive scope suitable for early university-level learners.
What makes this book a standout is its pedagogical approach. It does not overwhelm students but encourages conceptual clarity and step-by-step problem-solving. With supportive exercises and a logical flow of topics, it nurtures a strong mathematical intuition.
Dedicated to both students and educators, Elements of the Differential Calculus is not just a textbook—it is a reliable companion for those beginning their journey into calculus. It’s ideal for self-study, classroom use, and as a quick reference for core calculus concepts. Authored with genuine passion and pedagogical sensitivity, this book fills a significant gap in accessible, quality calculus education.
