About the Author
I can’t claim that I’ve always been passionate about writing. In fact, it was a love that blossomed during the COVID-19 pandemic when I was in grade 7. Imagine this: TV channels buzzing about the number of deaths, buildings sealed off, and the mere thought of stepping outside making us anxious. Amidst all this chaos, my love for writing began to sprout. My parents were having a tough time during the pandemic. My grandma, being quite aged, was emotionally vulnerable, and I was right there with her, fretting alongside. I saw my parents worrying about their business losses, and naturally, I started worrying too!
That’s when my mom, in her infinite wisdom, suggested I write down my feelings. So, I started with a modest diary, scribbling about my thoughts, feelings, and what I ate that day (let’s just say, a lot of 2-minute Maggi!). Diaries blossomed into writing music and songs, which then transformed into poetry, like seeds growing into a symphony of wildflowers, each one more vibrant and melodious than the last. Writing became my escape. Writing made me feel safe.
Fast forward to high school, where my love for literature was nurtured by my incredible English teacher. She inspired me, guided me, and made me fall head over heels for writing and literary analysis. Being a fan of classics and crime novels, I wanted to weave my real-life experiences into a story that intertwines drama, crime, horror, and suspense into one riveting fabric. And thus, “”The Shadows We Fear”” was born. This book isn’t limited to any particular demographic; it’s for everyone who enjoys a good thrill.
I hope you enjoy my first novel as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thanks for reading! I eagerly await your creative thoughts at myself@vedikapal.com.
