Description

About the Book

Anunaad: Words, Thought, and the Science of a Life is an interdisciplinary exploration of the subtle forces that shape human life—family, relationships, words, voice, sound, music, thoughts, emotions, actions, and consciousness. The book brings together reflections from Indian traditions with perspectives from psychology, neuroscience, voice science, and the study of the human nervous system.
The journey begins with the environment in which a person grows and gradually moves through the influence of words, speech, sound, music, thought, emotion, action, meditation, self-reflection, consciousness, and forgiveness. It explores how these interconnected dimensions contribute to the way individuals experience themselves, relate to others, and understand the world around them.
A central theme of the book is the relationship between sound, music, emotion, and the human mind. It examines Indian concepts of Nāda, Rasa, and Bhava alongside contemporary perspectives on emotional processing, stress, voice, pitch, breathing, and the nervous system. The book also considers how music and calming sounds may influence emotional states and physiological responses.
Rather than treating ancient wisdom and modern science as opposing viewpoints, Anunaad brings them into a thoughtful dialogue. It encourages readers to examine traditional ideas with curiosity while appreciating the contribution of modern research.
The book is ultimately an invitation to become more conscious of what we speak, hear, think, feel, and practise. Through reflection and simple practical exercises, it encourages a more balanced and meaningful approach to everyday life.
