Description
About The Book
Human rights constitute one of the most significant legal and moral concepts developed in modern civilization. They represent the inherent dignity, liberty, equality, and freedom that belong to every individual merely by virtue of being human. The idea of human rights evolved gradually through centuries of philosophical thought, political struggles, religious teachings, and constitutional developments. Human rights are regarded as universal, inalienable, indivisible, and imprescriptible rights that cannot be arbitrarily taken away by the State or any authority. In contemporary legal systems, human rights operate as limitations on governmental power while simultaneously ensuring protection of human dignity and individual autonomy. The recognition of human rights has transformed the relationship between the State and the individual by shifting the focus from absolute sovereignty of rulers to accountability, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.
In this background Savitribai Phule Pune University revised its curriculum on the basis of Choice Based Credit System for LL.M from Academic year 2025-26 and introduced Human Rights law as one of the compulsory paper consisting of four credits under specialization of Constitutional and Administrative Law. As an introductory perspective to prod and provoke the inquisitiveness of the students, to grasp the key features of Human Rights and their relevance in a subtle perspective and to provide help for the preparation of various university examinations providing for Human Rights as a subject. Author of this book designed its contents completely on the basis of syllabus issued by the university. Attempt is made to make available every point in one book.
