Description
About The Book
Every working professional has felt it: the low-grade anxiety of hearing about AI constantly and still not knowing what to actually do with it.
The meetings where someone mentions a tool you have never tried. The articles that make it sound like you are already behind. The quiet worry that this time, the shift might be real.
From Confusion to Capability is written for that professional.
This is not a book about what AI might do in ten years. It is a practical guide to what you can do with it this week, in your writing, research, analysis, communication, and decision-making.
It cuts through the hype, clears the jargon, and gives you a clear, honest picture of what AI is good at, where it fails, and how to use it without losing your judgment.
By the time you finish, you will know how to work with AI tools deliberately, verify their outputs before you trust them, and delegate the right tasks without surrendering the thinking that matters. You will also have a 30-day action plan to put everything into practice immediately.
No technical background required. No hype. No shortcuts that fall apart at work.
Whether you are skeptical, overwhelmed, or quietly wondering what everyone else already knows — this book starts where you are and builds real, durable AI capability one practical work task at a time.
About The Author
Raj Sarangam has spent more than twenty years inside large organizations where technology decisions carry real weight. He has led enterprise transformation and technology delivery across HP, Tyson Foods, Mars, Cengage, and others — programs measured not in presentations but in go-lives, operational outcomes, and more than $10 million in documented business value.
When AI moved from concept to workplace reality, Raj made a deliberate choice. He did not just want to manage AI programs. He wanted to understand what was actually happening inside them. So he built things.
He completed a Master Program in Computer Vision and Deep Learning, earned certification as an AI Project Manager, and developed a hands-on portfolio across image classification, object detection, document scanning, automation workflows, and agentic AI. He then took that knowledge back into the enterprise.
Today Raj is leading an AI-agent-driven transformation at Cengage — eight AI agents coordinating across collections, disputes, cash applications, reporting, and forecasting. His work connects AI implementation with the harder realities of enterprise delivery: governance, data quality, adoption, risk, testing, and operational change.
That combination is not common. Raj understands both sides of the AI conversation — the hands-on discipline of building applied AI solutions and the enterprise discipline required to make technology work under real business pressure. Most people have one. He has both.
He holds an MBA from the University of Houston, an MS in Computer Science from McNeese State University, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from BITS Pilani. He is based in Houston, Texas.
He wrote this book for the professionals he keeps meeting: capable, experienced, and uncertain about AI in ways they should not have to be.
