Description

About the Book

This integrative study examines the interconnected pandemics of obesity (Sthoulya) and hypothyroidism through the complementary lenses of Ayurveda and modern medicine. The work establishes a robust correlation between the Ayurvedic understanding of Medo Dhatu (adipose tissue), Agnimandya diminished metabolic fire), and Medovaha Srotodushti (channel dysfunction) with contemporary pathophysiology involving reduced basal metabolic rate (BMR), dyslipidemia, and endocrine disruption.

The book systematically explores:
1. Ayurvedic foundations of Sthoulya Roga, including Nidana Panchak (fivefold diagnosis), pathogenesis, and prognosis as described in classical Samhitas.
2. Modern medical perspectives on obesity classifications, thyroid physiology, and the bidirectional relationship between hypothyroidism and weight gain.
3. Evidence-based correlations linking Ayurvedic concepts such as Kapha Dosha to hypometabolism, and Beeja Dosha (genetic predisposition) to hereditary risk factors.
4. Integrative management protocols combining levothyroxine therapy with Ayurvedic interventions like Medohara herbs (Guggulu, Triphala), Agni-deepana (metabolic enhancers), and personalized lifestyle modification.

This book is designed for:

Ayurvedic practitioners seeking to deepen their understanding of metabolic disorders and integrate modern insights.
Modern healthcare professionals (endocrinologists, nutritionists, internists) interested in holistic and integrative approaches.
Medical and Ayurvedic students looking for a comprehensive resource on obesity and thyroid health.
Researchers exploring cross-disciplinary correlations between traditional and contemporary medicine.
Health enthusiasts and patients who wish to understand their conditions from both physiological and holistic perspectives.
