About the Book

Human Resource Management in Higher Education Institutions: AI-Driven Sustainability and Transformation offers a comprehensive and contemporary examination of how people management is reshaping universities and colleges in the digital age. Moving beyond traditional administrative functions, the book presents HRM as a strategic driver of academic excellence, research productivity, institutional culture, and long-term sustainability.

Authored by experienced academicians, this volume systematically explores the evolution of HRM in higher education, regulatory and legal frameworks in India, human resource planning, recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, compensation, employee welfare, and workplace culture. A distinctive strength of the book is its focused discussion on digital transformation and artificial intelligence in HRM, highlighting how AI-enabled systems can enhance decision-making, faculty development, efficiency, and sustainable workforce practices.

With policy-oriented insights and practical recommendations, the book addresses real challenges such as faculty shortages, performance management, governance, and changing expectations within higher education institutions. Written in a clear and structured manner, it bridges theory and practice, making complex concepts accessible and relevant.

This book is an essential resource for postgraduate students, research scholars, faculty members, academic administrators, and policymakers seeking to build future-ready, people-centric, and technology-driven higher education institutions in the Indian and global context.
