Skin diseases constitute one of the most common presentations in clinical practice. From acne in adolescence to chronic psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema, and autoimmune dermatoses, disorders of the skin affect not only physical health but also psychological and social well-being.
In Ayurveda, skin diseases are described extensively under the broad spectrum of Kushtha, Kshudra Roga, Rakta Pradoshaja Vikara, and other Twak-related disorders. Classical Acharyas have emphasized that skin pathology is not merely superficial; it reflects disturbances in Rakta, Pitta, Kapha, Agni, and the integrity of the Dhatus.
This handbook has been developed with the intention of presenting:

• Structured prescription formats
• Panchakarma protocols
• Diet and lifestyle guidelines
• Practical OPD-based formulations
• Classical principles integrated with modern clinical understanding
The approach adopted here is both Shodhana-pradhana (where indicated) and Shamana-based (for maintenance and milder cases), with emphasis on long-term remission rather than temporary suppression.

About The Author

Dr. Krishna Meher, M.S. (Ayu), is an accomplished academician, clinician, and researcher in the field of Prasuti and Stri Roga (Ayurvedic Obstetrics and Gynaecology). He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prasuti and Stri Roga at Sri Sri Nrusinghnath Ayurved College & Research Institute, Paikmal, Odisha. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he actively practices as a Consultant Gynaecologist (Ayu), providing comprehensive Ayurvedic management for a wide range of gynaecological and obstetric conditions.

Dr. Saurabh Garg is a dedicated Ayurvedic physician, academician, and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Roga Nidana Evum Vikriti Vigyana at Mangalayatan Ayurvedic Medical College & Research Centre, Mangalayatan University, Aligarh. He completed his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from Murari Lal Rasiwasia Ayurvedic College, Charkhi Dadri (Haryana) and pursued his postgraduate studies, earning an MD in Roga Nidana Evum Vikriti Vigyana, from Rishikul Campus, Uttarakhand Ayurved University, Haridwar. His strong academic foundation has shaped his expertise in Ayurvedic diagnostics and pathology.

Dr. Ved Parkash Sharma, Assistant Professor, Mangalayatan Ayurveda Medical College and Research Centre, Aligarh .Asst. Professor (Dr.) Ved Parkash Sharma is a distinguished Ayurveda expert, boasting an illustrious academic career spanning over two decades. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery (BAMS) degree from the prestigious Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak Haryana (2016), and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Ayurveda from Sri Ganganagar College of Ayurvedic science and hospital (Tantia University) Rajasthan (2022). Dr. Sharma’s academic journey commenced at Major S.D. Singh P.G. Ayurveda Medical College Hospital, Farrukhabad (U.P.). Where he joined as an Assistant Professor.
