About the Book

The book is a collection of devotional songs written firsthand by its author Sarangadhar Baral whose name is shortened to “Saranga” in the Odia language. And this shorthand Saranga is to be reflected as the authorial name for this book on Title/ Author’s page. The book describes his full name for other pages elsewhere.

This book was long awaited in 2022. However, another publisher after signing its contract paper went cold, and the present print is made successful.

The book is a collected text of his own songs, which sings to the adoration of Lord Jagannath whose temple-abode is at the famous Puri Dham. The songs are a passionate attempt at translating the genuinely dedicated devotee stirred with admiration for the supreme sire and loving admonition to Him as well mostly in the face of worldly sufferings. The poet-author has tried to be an unknown representative while voicing almost the sorrowing devotee before the Lord. All of these songs are potentially geet-sangeet in style and rhythm. The songs derive inspiration from the long heritage of saintly songmakers in ancient Odisha. Nevertheless, the author’s own atypical experience and vision go into the inner text.
