About The Book
COVID 19 AND HUMANITY – A RETRO – INTROSPECTION is about the COVID-19 experience in the first part and Humanity, its follies, needs, and redemption in the second part.
Part I- A Retrospection-Millions of people died of SARS-CoV-2 (popularly called COVID-19) from 2019 until it mitigated itself slowly after 2023. The underlying fact is that, during this period, humans feared humans more than the virus itself. So much so that one cough or a sneeze within one’s audible or visible radius sent shivers down the spine. Part I of this book is about retrospecting how humanity lived and/or died during this period, Lest we forget.
Part II- An Introspection-Here, the author introspects the follies and needs of Humanity.
He highlights a way of life called Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (World is One Family), reiterating, again and again, that it should act as the collective conscience of the United Nations, both in matter and spirit. Mr Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, emphasised the importance of this philosophy, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, in his address to the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Seven years later, between 2021 and 2023, he lived this philosophy by distributing one billion COVID-19 vaccines to needy countries. The author strongly feels that The UN Systems, as an epitome of this philosophy, can bring about a Redemption of Humanity from its follies and desperate needs.
About The Author
The author is a qualified Engineer, an ex-defence officer, a Life Skills Trainer, a Motivational Speaker, and now, a third time Author. Two of his earlier books, ‘Love Lost and Found,’ (Fiction) and ‘Deception on Westminster Bridge, London (Non-fiction), are out on the stands.
In Apr 2021, he had the most unwelcome visitor of those days, COVID-19, at his home in Hyderabad, India. That was the second wave, and there were hardly any houses where it didn’t visit. While the rest of the members at his home escaped its full wrath, he wasn’t that lucky. He landed up in an ICU and stayed there for 13 agonising days, seeing death right in front of his eyes at least four times. He knocked at the door of death but returned when it didn’t open. What shook him most was the pathetic state of a young teenage girl who was hooked up to various life support equipment for four days until she gave up. She was then wrapped in a plastic bag and disposed of like any life-expired item. He shuddered at the thought of his fate turning to be the same. Can death be more horrific than this? And millions across the world faced a similar fate. Humanity! What have you done to yourself? He thought. Is there a way out of this? A redemption? In his state of agony, he retrospected and introspected, and penned down his thoughts. That is ‘COVID 19 AND HUMANITY – A RETRO – INTROSPECTION.’
