Description

About The Book

Glimpses of Kathmandu is a personal memoir of a young Indian civil engineer who arrived in Kathmandu in January 1969 on a professional assignment, expecting to return to Delhi after about three years. That short period became one of the most memorable chapters of his life. The book recalls Kathmandu of that time—its people, markets, temples, tea stalls and surrounding hills—and journeys to Kakani, Nagarkot and Daman. It also follows the author’s changing life: settling into a new country, making friends, marriage and the beginning of family life. Above all, it is a story of friendships that grew into lifelong relationships. Colleagues became companions and, in time, family. This is not a history of Nepal or a travel guide, but one man’s affectionate recollection of a country, a time and the people who touched his life.
