Witnessing child marriage, female foeticide, gender inequality, and the restrictions imposed on girls, she is constantly restless. That is why she ties her dreams to the thread of hope and longs to let them soar high into the sky.

‘Lahar’ is not only a reflection of the male-dominated society of the 21st century but also the story of a golden ray of success breaking through the darkness of poverty and oppression. It is the journey of a girl whom society tried to suppress—but who chose to carve out her own identity.

About The Author

Ravi Ranjan is a writer whose works offer society a fresh perspective. Hailing from an educated and prosperous village in Bihar, Ravi Ranjan closely observed the deeply rooted patriarchal mindset in society and shaped his very first story into a novel based on this experience. This is his debut book, which he presents to readers with great confidence.

His sensitivity towards social issues became evident early on—while still in the tenth grade, he had written on women’s education, which was later published in his school’s prospectus. This thoughtful approach has always been reflected in his creativity.

After completing his postgraduate degree in Journalism from the Central University of Punjab, he moved to Mumbai and entered the field of filmmaking. During this journey, he envisioned adapting his story into a film, but on the advice of experienced artists, he decided first to bring it before readers in the form of a book.
