Meeting the Unknown Me

There are times in life when you suddenly see a different side of yourself — a side you did not fully know before. It may happen when you say something that surprises you, or when you react to a situation in an unexpected way. It can happen in a dream, while listening to music, or during a quiet moment when your mind becomes still and you feel something deep inside. This is what I call the Unknown Me. The idea sounds simple, but it is not always easy to understand. All of us have a public self — the version of ourselves that we show to other people. This version is shaped by many things, like family expectations, society, work, school, and even social media. It is not completely fake, but it is carefully controlled. We choose what parts of ourselves to show, and what parts to hide.

But inside us, there is another self. I call this the Unknown Me. It is the part of you that exists before you start trying to impress others or fit into society. It is your deeper, more natural self.

The Unknown Me knows what really matters to you, not just what others tell you should matter. It remembers your old dreams, your lost passions, and the parts of life that never had a chance to grow. It also holds your creativity, your desire for freedom, and your purest feelings of joy and beauty.

The Unknown Me is not something wrong that needs to be solved. It is a part of you that should be welcomed. It is the most real and authentic part of who you are. And like all real things, it may feel a little strange at first, but also deeply familiar.
