Plant pests and diseases cause major economic losses for farmers worldwide in the monitory terms. Across large regions and many crop species, it is estimated that diseases typically reduce plant yield by 10 per cent every year in developed. world while it often exceeds 20 per cent in under developed and developing world. According to the FAO estimates, pests and diseases are responsible for about 25 per cent of crop loss, therefore the control of plant diseases is crucial for the reliable production of food. To reduce the crop losses due to pest and diseases, good quality information in the form which is easily understandable by the Indian farmers is strictly required. In this regard authors have tried to their level best for providing good quality content on various diseases caused by various bacteria, fungi, viruses and the plant parasitic nematodes in Hindi language.
