About The Book

“Yaadon Ke Woh Saal” is not just an autobiography—it is a heartfelt journey through time, capturing the changing hues of life and India itself. The 1960s form the backdrop of the author’s childhood—an era of innocence, simple joys, and heartfelt connections. Those were the days when songs played on the radio, colorful paper kites adorned the skies, and letters carried emotions across distances. The 1970s ushered in youth, filled with new dreams, evolving friendships, and reflections on society’s shifting values.

Through the pages of this book, readers will feel the fragrance of rural soil, the rhythm of city life, and the balance of tradition and modernity. Every story mirrors an era when life was slower but richer, when relationships were built on trust and time.

This memoir, inspired by the author’s daughter Dr. Indushree Banerjee—currently pursuing research in Holland—and lovingly supported by his younger daughter Sritama, transforms family memories into a timeless narrative. It invites readers to revisit their own past, to relive the warmth of their parents’ stories, and to rediscover the charm of a life woven with simplicity, affection, and the unforgettable melodies of bygone years.

About The Author

Born in December 1954 in Bhagwanpur, a remote village in Bihar, the author’s life journey is one of perseverance, dedication, and service. His early education took place in his village and nearby schools, often requiring him to walk long distances through muddy roads. Despite financial hardships, his determination to learn never wavered. His father’s sacrifices, selling land each year to fund his children’s education, left a lasting impression of gratitude and responsibility.
Later, he moved to Allahabad, where he lived with his aunt’s family and earned a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the College of Agriculture in 1979. He fondly acknowledges the invaluable support of his uncle, aunt, and other family members who guided him through these formative years.
His professional journey began with the Government of Odisha, where he worked on tree plantation, water conservation, and rural development in tribal areas. He later served in the Agriculture Department of Bihar, before joining IFFCO (Indian Farmers’ Fertilizer Cooperative Society) in 1983. Over the decades, he contributed to agricultural modernization, women’s empowerment, and community welfare. Representing India at a farmers’ event in Florida in 2012 was a proud moment. Even after retirement in 2015, he continues his mission of uplifting rural communities and promoting sustainable agriculture.
