The livestock plays an important role in the economy of farmers. The farmers in India maintain mixed farming system i.e. a combination of crop and livestock where the output of one enterprise becomes the input of another enterprise thereby realize the resource efficiency. Livestock is a source of subsidiary income for many families in India especially the resource poor who maintain few heads of animals. Animals like sheep and goat serve as sources of income during emergencies to meet exigencies like marriages, treatment of sick persons, children education, repair of houses etc.
The animals also serve as moving banks and assets which provide economic security to the owners. A large number of people in India being less literate and unskilled depend upon agriculture for their livelihoods. The Sheep, Goat, Pig and Poultry produce such as milk, meat, pork and eggs are an important source of animal protein to the members of the livestock owners. The animals offer social security to the owners in terms of their status in the society. Sheep and Goat gifting during marriages is a very common phenomenon in different parts of the country. Goat is a ATM of Poor man’s and Bank on hooves of sheep.

Dr. Pandurang Gangasagare born on 15th June 1973 at Bomnali taluka Mukhed Dist. Nanded. Presently he is working as a Professor, Department of Dairy Science, Adarsh Education Society’s Arts, Commerce and Science College, Hingoli. (Maharashtra). He obtained his Bachelor Degree in General Science in 1994 and Master Degree in Dairy Science in 1996, From Br. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangbad Presently Chh. Sambhaji Nagar in First class. He completed his Ph. D. in 2007, From Swami Ramanand teerth Marathwada University Nanded. His Research work is on Productivity Measures for Improvement in Dairy Industry in Marathwada Region of Maharashtra. He Published Book’s on, Animal Genetics’ and Breeding, Cattle and Buffalo Breeds, Processing of Milk, A Text book of Traditional Dairy Products and he has an Ex. Chairman of BOS in Dairy Science in Swami Ramanand teerth Marathwada University Nanded. He Published around 26 Research Articles in National and International Journals, He has completed One Minor Research Project, Funded by U.C.G. He has 28 Teaching experience at U. G. level.
