About The Book

The Colour of Forgotten Sounds is a collection of poems reflecting on the different shades of life through tender as well as callous but poignant metaphors and imagery.
Here, nature is not a passive entity, but a passionate companion colored in emotions, actively participating in the journey of the human race.
The poems in the book are simple and precise but carry deep emotion and thoughtful insight. Everyday images, like the sky, sea, earth, moon, sun, cloud and so on used in the poems hold deeper meanings about memory, loss and life.
Both free and rhymed verses are in their places, with a few of them of a philosophical nature, but meaningful.
Some of the poems in the book have a haiku-like form and may be read separately in stanzas or as a full poem.
Each poem is different, but all share a feeling of longing and struggle, giving a uniformity of theme to the collection. There is a sense of loss, but never with bitterness. Instead, there is unconditional acceptance. The honesty and courage in simplicity give a deeper meaning to the poem. Longing for places, desires, and truth is there, but no regret for getting it slipped away. A strong theme is transiency-the fading past, turning from familiar to strange, answers slipping out of reach. Poems prefer to live within the tensions rather than attempt to fix them.
No surprise, if you listen to the music of your breathing vibrating in the words of these poems.

About The Author

Devendra K Mishra is the author of The Cursed Crow, Whenever I Feel, and The Cara Coffee Bar. He is drawn to the classics and sees living poetry woven through the natural world.
Following no creed but a quiet religion of humanity, he feels blessed, contented, and serene. Literary activities bring happiness and peace of mind to him. He is a staunch believer in the goodness of humankind as a whole, despite being filled with remorse and bitterness at times when witnessing the strange behaviors of the world.
All genres of writing attract him, but poetry is very close to his heart because he believes in its magical power.
For him, reading and writing are not only a passion but a form of prayer – a pious duty. It’s the most fruitful hour of his routine that makes his day. He carries a void in his heart for a considerable time whenever his schedule denies him the space for indulging in his passion. The silence stays with him for a couple of days and silently slips away from him, confirming the resumption of his normal routine. Returning to the place of his prayer, he opens the book, flips a page, and his emptiness is replaced by the joyful vibes, forgetting the bleakness of the past days.
Although not very keen on becoming a part of the social gatherings, he likes to attend meaningful literary seminars and conferences to have a finger on the pulse.
