About The Book

Climate change is not just an environmental crisis—it is an economic challenge with far-reaching consequences for societies, industries, and governments worldwide. The Economics of Climate Change: Policies, Challenges, and Global Solutions explores the intricate relationship between economic systems and climate change, offering an in-depth analysis of how global economies can navigate the transition to a sustainable future.

Divided into 12 comprehensive units, the book begins with foundational concepts, highlighting the science behind climate change, economic externalities, and the costs of inaction. It then delves into policy mechanisms such as carbon pricing, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, providing case studies from leading nations, including Germany, Japan, and Sweden. A key focus is placed on resource development and sustainability, examining deforestation, water scarcity, and the circular economy as pivotal factors in climate resilience.

The book further explores climate change’s impact on economic sectors, including transportation, finance, and tourism, showcasing how industries adapt to new environmental realities. Special attention is given to international climate agreements, policy successes and failures, and developing nations’ roles in global climate governance. Future-oriented discussions address green jobs, artificial intelligence in climate action, and the roadmap to achieving net-zero economies.

Urbanization, trade, health, and food systems are also examined, emphasizing sustainable urban planning, climate-resilient supply chains, and food security. Additionally, indigenous knowledge and technological innovations such as geoengineering and blockchain in carbon markets present unique perspectives on climate solutions.

Through real-world case studies and rigorous economic analysis, this book serves as an essential guide for policymakers, economists, researchers, and students seeking to understand the economic dimensions of climate change and the pathways to a sustainable, low-carbon future.
