Arun joshi is rightly regarded as one of the leading Indian novelist in English.His fame and popularity depend, to a very large extent, on the range of his ideas and the class of his art. His place among Indian novelists is judged by the variety and clarity of his art that he has employed in the presentation of his ideas. The foregoing analysis of Arun Joshi’s novels shows that he has been preoccupied with the problem of twentieth century man’s dilemma and its repercussions. In an age when religious faith is fast disappearing and man feels culturally uprooted and socially alienated on account of his own (mis) doings, the message of serious artist like Arun Joshi is most welcome and called for.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I, Dr. Shalini Singh, basically, belong to Shravasti, Uttar Pradesh, which is famous for the Lord Buddha’s sermons, who spent twenty – five years of his life there. Currently, I live in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.I am a wife and a mother of two beautiful children. I pursued my Ph. D in English Literature from the University of Lucknow. I have several years of teaching experience. I love writing about modern themes such as alienation, existentialism, and social issues. I love reading mostly every genres.
