About the Book
Human rights, rooted in ancient values and philosophies, gained global recognition post-World War I with the League of Nations and later the United Nations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, remains a cornerstone, influencing global and national laws. India, a key promoter of human rights, incorporated an extensive Bill of Rights in its Constitution and pioneered Public Interest Litigation to make justice accessible to all. Despite historical reverence, gender inequality persists globally. This book explores the evolution of human rights, the role of Public Interest Litigation, and the ongoing fight for gender equality.
