ABOUT THE BOOK

The present book “MATRICES: CORE TOPICS FOR THE FIRST COURSE” has been written to develop foundation knowledge for the readers to understand basics of matrices. The subject matter has been discussed in such a simple and systematic way that the readers will find no difficulty to understand it.
The present book is divided into thirteen chapters (Chapter-1 Matrix Algebra; Chapter-2 Determinant and Inverse of a Square Matrix; Chapter-3 Some Special Matrices; Chapter-4 Elementary Operations and Rank of a Matrix; Chapter-5 Linear Dependence and Independence of Vectors; Chapter-6 Solution of System of Linear Equations; Chapter-7 Eigen Values and Eigen Vectors of a Matrix; Chapter-8 Algebraic and Geometric Multiplicities of an Eigen Value of a Square Matrix; Chapter-9 Cayley-Hamilton Theorem; Chapter-10 Diagonalization of a Matrix; Chapter-11 Application of Theory of Matrices for Studying Keynesian Model of National Income; Chapter-12 Application of Matrices in Economics for Determining National Income, National Consumption and Tax Revenue; Chapter-13 Application of Theory of Matrices for Solving System of First Kind Linear Volterra Integro-Differential Equations) and in the end of each chapter a set of unsolved problems as an exercise to the students has been incorporated. This book also contains 180 multiple choice questions. We hope that this book will meet the requirement and the expectations of the readers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Sudhanshu Aggarwal has received his Ph.D. degree from C.C.S. University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India in 2019. He has also qualified CSIR NET exam (June-2010, June-2012, June-2013, June-2014 and June-2015) in Mathematical Sciences. He is working as an Assistant Professor in National Post Graduate College Barhalganj, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is equipped with an extraordinary caliber and appreciable academic potency. His fields of interest include Integral Transform Methods, Differential Equations, Integral Equations, Vibration of Plates, Theory of Elasticity and Number Theory. He has published 135 research papers in National and International Journals. He is the author of 55 books.
Dr. Mohammad Hassan received his Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), India, and presently he is working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Mathematic at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh. He has qualified CSIR-UGC JRF and GATE Exams and got NBHM Post Doctoral Fellowship. He has also completed Young Scientist Research Grant (project) from SERB DST Govt. of India. His areas of specializations are Wave-Structure Interaction, Differential Equation, Linear Algebra and Fluid Dynamic. He has more than 20 research publications in reputed journals (Springer / Elsevier) to his credit.
