Description

About The Book

Medical Law and Ethics is one of the most important subjects in healthcare education because it teaches not only how to treat patients, but also how to treat them with dignity, responsibility, and humanity. In modern healthcare, technical knowledge alone is not enough. Every healthcare professional must understand legal duties, ethical principles, patient rights, professional accountability, and the importance of compassionate care.
This book has been written especially for students of medical, paramedical, allied health sciences, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, medical laboratory sciences, radiology, optometry, and other healthcare professions. It is designed in a simple, theory-rich, and expanded format so that learners can understand both the practical and legal aspects of professional healthcare practice.
The purpose of this book is to provide a clear understanding of the relationship between medicine, law, and ethics. It covers important topics such as informed consent, negligence, medical records, confidentiality, organ transplantation, reproductive ethics, mental health law, digital healthcare, public health law, hospital administration, and future ethical challenges in medicine.
Special attention has been given to current healthcare realities including telemedicine, artificial intelligence, patient safety, biomedical waste management, professional registration, and ethical leadership. These topics are essential for preparing healthcare professionals who can work confidently and responsibly in modern institutions.
The language of the book has been kept simple and understandable while maintaining academic depth. Each chapter includes detailed explanations, summary points, and practice questions to support learning, teaching, examinations, and professional application.
The goal of this book is not only to help students pass examinations, but also to help them become safe, ethical, and legally aware professionals. A good healthcare worker is not remembered only for knowledge, but for honesty, respect, empathy, and professional conduct.

Medicine is a profession of trust. Law protects that trust, and ethics gives it meaning.
It is hoped that this book will serve as a useful guide for students, teachers, researchers, and healthcare professionals who wish to practice medicine with both competence and conscience.
