About the book
India is a land of an ancient civilizations and Hindusim arose in the Vedic period. The Ancient Tradition of celebrating festivals goes back to the Vedic times of Aryans. The Vedic scriptures and literature give many sources of information about festivals and the celebrations are being carried on to honour gods, trees, rivers, and mountains. All the Indian festivals are closely interlinked with temples that are scattered all over the world. In Indian culture, there was a time when there used to be a festival every day of the year 365 festivals in a year and accordingly thousands of temples of God.According to the beliefs, there are around 33 crore Gods and Goddesses, including various deities’ incarnations. But this is far from being true. Hinduism believes in worshipping the one Supreme who is known by different names, The Brahma Sutra of Hinduism is: “Ekam Brahma, Dwitiya naste neh na naste kinchan” which means There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit.” But Hindus indeed worship the Almighty in several different forms. As all the available literature about festivals and temples are scattered and as such it has been tried to compile all the festivals and its corealtion with temples.
