About the Author

Dr. Bharat D. Karhad is an accomplished academic and educational leader, currently serving as the Principal of Varadkar Belose College, Dapoli. With extensive expertise in finance and accounting, he holds a Ph.D. in Commerce, an M.Com, an MBA, and is a Chartered Accountant (CA).
Dr. Gopal Alapure is a distinguished academic and civil engineering expert with extensive experience in education and professional practice. His journey in engineering began with a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Puranmal Lahoti Government Polytechnic, Latur, in 1988. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, Pune, in 2007, followed by a Master’s in Civil Engineering specializing in Town and Country Planning from the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) in 2009.

In 2012, he completed an MBA in Finance Management from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune. Furthering his academic pursuits, Dr. Alapure received a Ph.D. from LIT Kharagpur in 2017, where his research on sustainability in residential built environments led to the development of SBModel 2015 V.1.0, a software tool for assessing sustainability in residential structures.

With over two decades of experience in the private and government sectors, Dr. Alapure’s contributions have been widely recognized. In 2009, he was honored with the Gunvant Abhiyanta Puraskar (Best Engineer Award) by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for his outstanding work in the Department of Land Acquisition.

He has published numerous research papers in prestigious international and national journals and has received multiple Best Paper Awards for his innovative contributions. His research interests include sustainable built environments, urban planning, environmental management, urban finance, and construction risk assessment.

Dr. Alapure is also the Founder President of The Earth Charter, a public trust in Pune dedicated to educational and allied activities. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor, Dean (Admin), and Head of the Civil Engineering Department at Dhole Patil College of Engineering, Pune, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Over his distinguished career, Dr. Karhad has held several key positions, including Finance and Accounts Officer, Vice Principal, Professor, Head of Department, Lecturer, and Coordinator for various academic programs. He has also been an active member of committees such as the Budget Committee, Purchase Committee, NEP Committee, Account Code Revision Committee, Management Council, and Senate. Additionally, he has contributed as an NSS Program Officer and is affiliated with professional bodies like ICAI and WMTPA.

Dr. Karhad is a prolific author, with over 15 books and 23 research papers to his credit, making significant contributions to the fields of management and accounting. His dedication to education and social change is evident through his efforts to elevate educational standards and engage with the community. A leader and mentor, Dr. Karhad continues to inspire students and colleagues alike through his passion for teaching and commitment to progress.
