ABOUT THE BOOK

Neurophysiology (physiology of nervous system and special senses) is considered to be the most difficult part of physiology by the undergraduate students. Not surprisingly, because this is an evolving science with complicated mechanisms. Hence, this book is written in simple language to help students to grasp the concepts easily. It gives the necessary information without burdening the undergraduate students with postgraduate level information. But at the same time to fulfil the demands of good students, recent advances are explained in “nice to know” box at relevant places. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Milind V. Bhutkar (MD, MNAMS) is currently working as Professor and Head, Department of Physiology at Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu. He has rich experience of 30 years of teaching Physiology in various government and private medical colleges in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He is former Dean of Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College and Hospitals, Salem, Tamil Nadu. He has been Editor-In-Chief of National Journal of Basic Medical Sciences; an indexed, peer reviewed journal. He has more than 40 scientific research publications in various national and international journals to his credit. He has been a member of board of studies of various universities. Dr. Milind has authored two books viz. “Principles of Exercise Prescription” and “How to Become Successful Orator”. Both the books have been received enthusiastically by the student fraternity. Dr. Milind has also coauthored a textbook “A Concise Textbook of Physiology”. He is recognized PG and PhD guide and also guided UG students for ICMR STS projects. He is examiner at UG, PG and PhD level in various universities. Dr. Pratima Milind Bhutkar (M.Sc., Ph.D. Medical Physiology) is currently working as Associate Professor, Department of Physiology at Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu. She has 26 years of teaching Physiology to medical, dental, physiotherapy, nursing and allied health sciences students of various government and private medical colleges in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. She has 19 research publications in various national and international journals and 4 copyrights to her credit. Dr. Pratima has coauthored “A Concise Textbook of Physiology”. Her YouTube channel ‘Planet Physiology’ is well appreciated by students and faculty across the country.
