Jayaprakash Narayan was a great socialist leader who played a pioneering role in the freedom movement. He is commonly known as JP. JP experienced the problems of India since independence and proposed several of his political ideas for reforming the nation. His political ideas included democratic socialism, Lokshakti, Sarvodaya, partyless democracy, communitarianism, and total revolution. When the Indian nation-state turned autocratic in 1974, the total revolution took place under JP’s leadership. The goal of the total revolution was to bring about seven-fold changes in the nation.
