Literature is the mirror of the society, so this experience based book is dedicated to the society itself. Everything that is not available remains the center of human curiosity. In fact, a prison is a place where no one wants to go but everyone wants to know about it. Since prison is an essential part of the social system, people are always curious to know about prisons according to their nature. Ordinary people know prisons only through movies, that is not the real nature of prisons. In fact the world of prisons is a different world beyond film prisons, human imaginations.
This book is presented as the first installment of the first 11 years of my 33 years of prison life. The purpose of the book is to present real, factual and reliable facts about the prisons. Since prison is an inseparable part of society, just as every organ in the body is important and necessary, in the same way, jail is also necessary for a well-ordered society. Therefore, the real meaning of prison, its need, its importance, the need to make it more useful to the society, the process of reform and finding ways to remove the obstacles, highlighting the obstacles in achieving the objective, so that our society and criminal justice system development. to reach new heights.

About the author

गोपाल प्रसाद ताम्रकार का जन्म 28 जून 1960 को सागर मध्यप्रदेश में हुआ। आप मध्यम वर्गीय व्यवसायी परिवार में पले बडें। आपने 11वीं बोर्ड परीक्षा विज्ञान विषय से प्रथम श्रेणी में उर्तीण की और आपको मेरिट स्कॉलरशिप प्राप्त हुई।
मध्यभारत के प्रथम और प्राचीनतम सागर विश्वविधालय से आपने बी.एस.सी. की स्नातक उपाधी प्राप्त की। 1985 में समाजशास्त्र विषय में एम.ए. किया। जिसमें आपने विश्वविद्यालय में प्रावीणय सूची मेें प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया। विश्वविद्यालय के टॉपर होने के कारण परम्परानुसार आपको परिणाम घोषित होते ही तदर्थ सहायक प्राध्यापक नियुक्त किया गया। एम.ए. फाइनल इयर में आपने लघुशोध प्रबंध हेतु “प्रेम विवाह” जैसे ज्वलंत सामाजिक विषय को चुना। इस शोध कार्य को आपकी प्रथम पुस्तक:- “प्रेम विवाह, एक समाजशास्त्रीय अध्ययन” के रुप में प्रकाशित किया गया। आपने चार वर्षो तक अध्यापन करते हुए मध्य प्रदेश हिन्दी ग्रंथ अकादमी के फाउन्डेशन कोर्स की पुस्तक में लेखन कार्य भी किया।
लेखक की धर्म पत्नि श्री मति पùजा गोपाल सागर विश्वविद्यालय में संग्रहालय अध्यक्ष के पद से स्वैक्षिक सेवानिवृत्त है। परिवार में सुपुत्र सार्थक और बहु मोनिका स्व-व्यवसायी है।
श्री ताम्रकार को सन् 2005 में सराहनीय सेवाओं एवं 2021 में उत्कृष्ट सेवाओं के लिए दो बार राष्ट्रपति पदक से सम्मानित किया गया है। वे एक मात्र जेल अधीक्षक है जिन्हें भारत सरकार द्वारा मानव अधिकार एवं जेल प्रबंधन के उच्चस्तरीय प्रशिक्षण हेतु लदंन भेजा गया था। 33 वर्षों की जेल सेवा के बाद 2021 में जेलअधीक्षक सह डी.आई.जी. के पद से स्वैक्षिक सेवानिवृति लेकर वे लेखन और समाज सेवा में संलग्न है।
