Description

About The Book

Knowledge of environment is advanced by research from scientists who are motivated by curiosity about the world and a desire to solve problems. South Africa has adopted the entire month of June to heighten awareness of environmental issues through various pertinent activities. World Environment Day is the biggest annual event commemorated on 5 June, with aim of galvanising positive environmental action. It was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly with a view to deepening environmental awareness and address concerns such as the depletion of the ozone layer, toxic chemicals, desertification and global warming. It is remarkable to think that some of the greatest scientists like Sir Fred Hoyle (Astronomer best known for, “Big-Bang” theory); William Thomson (Physicist, formulated the first and second laws of thermodynamics) and Rolf Luft (a pioneer in the fields of endocrinology, diabetes and mitochondrial research) were all born in June and have ever lived. It is essential to popularize the biographies of scientists in classical (Abhijat) languages like Marathi. Book entitled, “June Mahinyatil Vidnyanyatri” (Biographies of June-born-scientists) is commemorating scientist’s contributions through discoveries and inventions. Biographies provide readers with valuable insights of remarkable individuals. In this book, author explains how minds of scientists worked and the mysteries of the universe that they discovered. June born scientists are (were) enthusiastic and linked through their wider area of science, bound to have fortified inventions and discoveries. Present book is going to inspire readers of Marathi, Indo-Aryan Prakrit and Indian classical language and popularize the science around world.
