About the book

Migration acts as a barometer of changing socio-economic and political conditions at regional, national and international levels. Seasonal Migration has both positive and negative consequences. It has its impact on rural livelihood and also has its effect on the women, children and elderly. This is a maiden book of the author, which provides a brief account of Socio-Economic Implications of Seasonal Migration on Rural Elderly. It gives an overview of Migration scenario in India and Karnataka. It also deals with the concept of ageing and the demographic and socio-economic profile of the elderly. The Impact of seasonal migration on social life and well being of the elderly, it also focuses on the livelihood challenges faced by the elderly in their day today life. Based on the findings some recommendations were given.

About the Author

Dr. Ashvini Patil hails from Vijayapur District, and has completed post graduation in 2010 and cleared her K-SLET in 2011 and was awarded Ph.D in 2019 by the Department of Sociology by Karnataka University, Dharwad. Her subject specialization is Gerontology, Rural and Urban Sociology. She has published more than 20 articles in ISBN and reputed journals. She has participated and presented several research papers in National and International Conferences and has working experience in Karnataka State Akkamahadevi University, Vijayapura (PG) and also in the Government First Grade Colleges affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad, Rani Chenamma University, Belagavi and the premier institutes like BLDEA and KLE institutes which are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru (Nursing). At Present, she is working as an Assistant Professor of Sociology in Shri Hurakadli Ajja Shiskshana Samiti’s Smt K.S.Jigalur Arts and Dr (Smt) S.M. Sheshagiri Commerce College for Women, Dharwad Karnataka.Shanized several academic functions and worked in different capabilities.
