Money, power and sex dominate the world through social media and a stubborn economic system that has little feelings for humanity. In this environment we process about 84 000 thoughts per day. This presents a serious challenge in trying to obtain peace of mind. We continue with the chatter and the mindlessness in life until we realize that authentic joy is missing in our lives. One of the ways of achieving this authentic joy is through trying to understand the mind and creating the conditions for happiness. Happiness also requires some insight since we must accept that life has both pain and pleasure. We have to embrace both pleasure and pain whilst we occupy our space as physical beings in the universe. However, I point out in this book that the struggle for happiness and peace lies in understanding the mind, both the physical and spiritual component as well as memory. An attempt is made in this book to understand what is realistic when defining happiness and some practical solutions for peace are suggested.


Sigamoney Manicka Naicker has written a few books on education. He spent many years running which resulted in him completing the New York, London, Oslo and Cape Town Marathons. He was a pacer for Adidas in the Two Oceans Half Marathon. Sigamoney was awarded an extra-ordinary Professorship by the University of the Western Cape and Professor of Practice at the University of Venda. At the moment he chairs the Ministerial committee on inclusive education in South Africa. He has written several publications and speaks at a national and national level on social justice and inclusive education. He believes that we have to try and make the world a better place by creating the conditions for equality.
