About the book

The present investigation deals with 20 plant species (genera) of Angiosperms. Observation on reproductive biology, flowering phenology and morphology were documented on the basis throughout flowering periods that occurred during the study time. Phenology and flower anthesis was also recorded.Flower visitors and their behavior were recorded from morning at 8 O’ clock to evening 5 O’clock (9 hours) at the study period and observed the photograph of different visitor from high zoom (7.1 megapixel) cannon camera. The flower visitors and their mode of visiting were also observed for one year at different time’s interval. The floral studies like inflorescence per flower, number of stamen, pistil, and their size were study for the study of flowering phenology and pollination mechanism in each case.

About the author

Dr. Bishnu K Sharma is currently working as Assistant Professor and Head of Botany Department, Sikkim Government College, Namchi. He is also presently acting as IQAC coordinator. He completed M.Sc. in Botany from Avadh University Fazabad (Uttar Pradesh) and M.Phil & PhD in Botany form Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He had served as Research Assistant, Sikkim State Council of Science & Technology, Government of Sikkim, Gangtok.
He has published several scientific research papers in national and international journals. He also edited book titled “Common Flora of South Sikkim”. He has widely participated and presented papers in Indian Botanical Society, Society of Plant Reproductive Biology, Society of Ethnobotanist, etc. He has also participated in various professional training in many National and International conferences, seminar, workshop and symposium.
His area of interest includes pollination biology, plant reproductive biology, ethnobotany and tribal studies.
